I live in Texas, Harris County. I borrowed my girlfriend's truck (it actually belongs to her dad) the other night. I went through the EZ Tag without an EZ Tag sticker, I know that was wrong. I was in a hurry to pick up my girlfriend from work (I know that is no excuse). I got pulled over and the officer ran the plates on the truck. He informed me that he truck's registration sticker didn't match the plates on the truck. He also, informed me that the truck had not been registered in anyone's name since 2006. Her dad is buying the truck from a guy and they have never legally changed anything into his name. I got a ticket for running the EZ Tag, which I totally deserved, but I also got tickets for: 1. Failure to maintain financial responsibility and 2. Expired/no inspection sticker. Are any of these tickets Class "A" Misdameanors? Oh, also to make matters even worse, her dad works for a car dealership and also had an Untitled Vehicle Paper tag in the window and the officer said unless I was the one that worked for the dealership, it was illegal for me to be driving with the paper tag in the window. I had no idea of any of these violations on this truck. I know I owe the ticket for running the EZ Tag, but do not feel I should be responsible for the other violations on his truck and asked him to go to court with me, he has refused. Can anyone give me any advice on my legal rights. This happened in Precinct 8. I would appreciate any help.

You cowboys.
The driver of a vehicle is responsible to make sure it is registered, licensed, inspected and insured. Also mechanically sound. I suggest you have a duel with pop-in-law at high noon. ![]() |

LOL, yeah us cowboys...
let's hope he can spell $1,000.00 for the check for the surcharge. 1. Failure to maintain financial responsibility... However, if he maintains insurance on a different vehilce at the time of the offense, he is deemed an "occasional driver". I got a ticket on base, I won. |
