Default Was I "charged"?

I was asked the following question:

"Since your interview, have you been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, convicted, fined or imprisoned for breaking or violating any law or ordinance, including traffic violations?"

Now, my situation is as follows...

*Before* the interview, I was given an unfair traffic ticket, and I had requested a court case. The court case is scheduled on a day before the naturalization oath, which is when I have to submit the answer to the question.

I understand that the ticket itself does not apply since it was before the interview. But what about the court case? If I am found not guilty, the answer to the question is no, right? What if I am found guilty?

What is the formal definition of being "charged"?
Would I be considered "charged" if I am found guilty during the hearing?

Thank you!

They are not going to hold a traffic ticket against you.

Perhaps best to tell them what happened and that you are challenging it.

You are charged when you are issued the citation. You are not convicted until you are found guilty. But I do not think a traffict ticket will hurt you any. but lying about it might.
