bias? policeman gave ME ticket in accident
I was hit by a city bus who was trying to pass me while I passed a double-parked car. I was driving a work vehicle for the U.S. Postal Service at the time of this non-injury accident. When the policeman arrived on the scene he got on the city bus to talk to the busdriver and her supervisor first. When he got off the bus he walked over to me and asked me to walk with him to the scene of accident to tell him what happened. When I started he interrupted me to say, "oh you work for that slow a*! post office on Broadway?!"
I explained how I slowed to go around the double-parked car and before I could completely make it around, this CTA bus was starting to go around both of us before she hit her mirror somewhere on my vehicle. He told me to wait. When he finally came back to my vehicle from his, he told me he was taking my license and I had to go to court. When I asked him to explain why I was getting a ticket (for pulling from a parked position) if I was never parked or stopped and it was my word vs. hers. He said It was a "technicality" and I had to "take it up in court"... This is my 1st offense and they offered me to plead guilty and pay some fines, but I'm not; am I??? I asked for a continuance to try and present a witness(and to consult with someone). Is it worth it to get a lawyer? Also, I put in a complaint with OPS about his comment and unprofessionalism
