Is it within the scope of police powers and/or constitutionally legal for police officers to lurk on private property without specific and express permission
from the property owner, lying in wait, hidden from view to enforce traffic laws on public roads by waiting for a potential law violator to pass by? Would the type of private property be relevant in regard to their authority to use it; such as a police officer using my back 40 field acreage, hiding behind my trees to catch speeders passing by using his LIDAR gun as opposed to him lurking in a grocery store or office complex parking lot? I live in California, county of Placer if that makes any difference. |

They unfortunately can wait on private or semi-private property in most jurisdictions.
