My elderly friend has been billed 100k by the IRS. My friend is not wealthy.
This debacle occurred due to his leaving his business in the hands of a dishonest person. This person had made an agreement to buy the business. This person failed to pay withholding taxes. The IRS contention is that because the business and the local license was still in my friends name that all of the problems are his liability. Does my friend have any legal leg to stand on? |

He certainly can join the buyer in any suit and seek compensation.
He had better hire counsel to try to make the argument he is not liable to the IRS. That is going to get a bit technical legally. |

World Law's lawyers could also probably intervene and help resolve this if need be. You may email them on the home page.
