for-profit business would like to start 501c3

My husband and I currently own and operate a catering company organized as an LLC. We plan to open a non-profit community kitchen, which will have some paid employees. Similar concepts have rec'd their 501(c)(3) and are successfully operating. Do we need to file for a separate LLC, articles of organization and EIN for the 501(c)(3)? Or is it feasible that the non-profit act as a "branch" of the existing company?

Normally you need a separate non-profit corp to be formed.

World Law's lawyers could also probably intervene and help resolve this if need be. You may email them on the home page.
