Default Non-Profit/Moving Acc.

What is the name of your state? Florida

Hi and Good Morning,

I am the director of a small church in Florida. For the past 8 years we had been operating under the umbrella of another church. We were basically a mission working at the premises of an active church. WE opened bank accounts using the EIN number of this church and today we have incorporated our church with our EIN number. We always operated as an independent entity, we collected and work on our projects without any donations or help from the other church and today that we have our church incorporated, we are going to move our money from existing account (this is account with EIN # that belongs to the other church) to our bank account with the EIN number of our new incorporated church. Is this a legal process and how much control the other church has over our money based on the fact that we were using their EIN number?

Thank you,

Felix Negron

Did you file all your tax returns and other filings correctly.

It would seem to me that would not have been easy.

But they have no right to your funds in any case--the questions is if you both were compliant before now and I would guess you may not have been.

We are not aware of any fillings at all on our end and we were never asked for any documentation. We were a small church and in the last year we went from 10 members to 40 members. I am not sure if that is the reason why they have never asked for any information.
