Somebody recently told me that I can't start a business until I'm 18, because of some federal thing... Is that true? I didn't catch all of what he said. I'm 17 now. If it's relevant, I live in Ohio. I'd like to apply for a business license, and get going as soon as I can. I might be 18 by the time that I'm ready, but, in case I'm ready to launch earlier than that, I really don't want to try, and wind up disappointed if I find out I can't...

You can still operate a business; in some cases for some actions you will need an adult to sign etc. Your local chamber of commerce can help you and direct you.
