Default scam "work at home" business

My Wife replied to an online ad for a Work from home position. during the email correspondence she asked for a little more information about the position. she was told she would be responding to applications via email. My Wife asked where the applications come from and was told that they provide the applications. she paid to have the training materials sent to her and in the PDF file it explained that she is responsible for prospecting for applications and that all she is doing is the exact same thing of telling people to order the materials, and she charges them and they will then be sent the materialson how to place the same ads to have people order the materials on how to place ads... we contacted them back and reminded them that they said they will provide the applications, and we would like them to hold up to their end of the deal or we would like a refund.
