I Dont Know What Document I Need

Hi,

I am starting out my own website to help broaden community service in my nearby areas. It is not technically a nonprofit (I dont think) because we might put some ads on our page just to cover the costs of hosting and maybe a few marketing ploys. I found a web designer who said he was willing to help out with my project for free because he was interested in helping our cause. He has been working on it for a while now and is about to finish.

My friend says I need a document that we need to both sign so that he can't sue me later on for not paying him, even though he offered to do the work for free. I would like to think I can trust him, but I only know him via online. I don't know what type of document I need though. I was hoping to find a free version of it online, but I am not even sure what it is I need.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
