If you seek grant money do so only through or in consultation with your local elected officials.

Ok I am going to clear the air a little here and put some really bad advice to rest.
First of all, if your not a grant researcher / writer, don't give advice on how to go about getting grants. As a person wanting grants taking advice from these type of people is only hurting you. "I want to start up a business but have no money to put down for one. I was wandering how I go about securing a womens grant. I tried google and looking up info but they want money. I am smart enough to know that it does not cost anything to locate grants. Im just not sure how to go about locating the proper agency and not some scammer. Any one have any info for me?" Ok now yes, you are very right Mic. It does not cost anything to locate grant money. Anyone can do it. But here are some key points you need to understand. And I'm not trying to sell anything, I'm not a sales man, I'm just a guy who is putting the record strait. 1. You are going to go after a grant that hundreds of other woman are going to go after. Do not think that your special and better and going to get this grant just because your a woman owned business. There will be hundreds of other companies doing the same thing you are. 2. These other companies higher a company like National Grant Writing Authority who I am currently employed with to go after the grants for them. Do not think that you can compete with a professional who spends all his time on the clock working to get grants for people. We have certificates, attended classes, wrote and published books. The average person will not be able to produce an LOI that a professional grant writer will. 3. You could not higher a journalist to write articles for a paper without paying him/her a salary. The average grant writer salary is $42,000 nationally. If you expect to higher a grant writer to obtain money for you without paying him you are sadly mistaken. If you want professional results you have to pay for them. 4. Be warned, companies will tell you that you can pay them with the grant money received, this is a bold face lie, beware if your told this, your being scammed. Grant givers are very specific in how you can use their money. Due to the fact that it does not have to be repaid they are very strict about how its used. You can not use money donated to purchase a building to pay a grant writer. 5. Be willing to pay the cost to have a grant writer go to work for you. Or do it yourself. I strongly suggest calling us to get a better understanding of how it all works. Or feel free to write me via email or contact me on here. I will take the time to answer your question to the best of my abilities. Like I said I'm not a sales man, so keep in mind I'm just a guy who knows a thing or two and hates to see people get heart broken by doing the wrong thing. I am taking my time to write this because I want to. Thats all I'm sayin. Next topic... "If you seek grant money do so only through or in consultation with your local elected officials." I don't know how you came up with this... and I feel bad for anyone who called their mayor about getting grants. You don't call a lawyer about getting dental work done, don't bother your mayor with grant money, call a grant writer. We are trained professionals who do this for a living. We know more then a mayor, trust me. Again proof, that non professionals do not know about grant writing and should leave it to the professionals. Your bad advice may have very well hurt someone or their company. Keep your bad advice to yourself. Another non registered user posted going to the SBA, I would also suggest this site, as its a good point of reference. But take note, and I quote "Please Note that the U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, though it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. While the SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. (See Federal and State Technology Partnership Program)" Small Business Administration - Note on Grants again... quit posting info on grants if you did not even take the time to read the site about grants. If you intrested in speaking with me about this more email me at TheLVGrantWriter@gmail.com or you can hit me up from here directly, or you can call the company I work for National Grant Writing Authority 'a Small Business Government Grant Writing Service|`1 Business Grant Search For Women|`abc Government Grants to Start up Small Business ideas|`123 small business grants for in California/Las Vegas/Arizona/New York/Florida/Texas/Washington/and grant w Always look at where the information your about to take to heart comes from, you'll notice that most of the time, it comes from people who have no clue. Just my two cents.
