I recently moved from san diego, Ca to New Jersey - and hired a moving company( Across America Moving & Storage) to relocate all of my personal belongings.
In addition to them swindling me for a price nearly double what they originally quoted me, they lied about the length of time it would take them to get my stuff to NJ. I was required to pay 60% ($1200) upfront, and the other 40% when they delivered. They told me 5-10 days - and the contract signed states that they have 21 business days to deliver the goods. It is now 22 business days since they took my stuff and I just l earned it is on its way(finally!). I was informed by the driver that unless I paid the additional $1000 owed they would NOT unload the truck and all of my belongings. Should I be required to pay if they broke the contract they agreed to? Don't they owe me a refund for what I already paid since they didn't provide the services agreed to? Please help! |

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office.
