Confused Can I get any of my money back? I purchased a car from a used car dealer.

I purchased a car from a used car dealer. After 45 days (when the temp registration expired) they told me I had to bring the car back because they couldnt register the car in my name due to not having the correct paper work. I was told that I could come in and pick out a different car or get my money back. I got my money back. It took the dearler about a month to pay off the car loan and in the mean time I couldnt buy another car because there was a loan in my name. I paid insurance on the car, a car note, gas, tolls and minor touch ups on the car. I was told that I cannot get any of my money back because for these expenses because "it was like I was renting a car". I did not rent a car, I purchased a car. Am I entitled to a refund of any sort being that the problem was not my fault?

I wish to inform you that it is the terms and conditions of the used car sale purchase contract which will have jurisdiction in the matter. You may issue a written notice to the used car dealer. You may inform the used car dealer that you had purchased the car and not taken it on rent. You had also undertaken expenses on the car which must be refunded like insurance, touch up of the car, etc. You may also claim interest on the period of delay in obtaining the refund of the money. If the used car dealer fails to resolve the matter, you may file a lawsuit. If the amount is within the jurisdiction of the Small Claims Court, you may file the lawsuit. You may claim damages and costs. The burden of proof will be on you to show the claims being made by you in the court. The court will consider all the facts and decide the matter.

"They" are right. You would have had those expenses anyway whether or not you kept the car. You used all of what you paid for - the insurance coverage, gas, and tolls. Presumably they refunded your money in full, so the car note was also covered, and so were these "minor touch ups".

Are you expecting something extra for the inconvenience? That's not realistic. If you received all the money back that you paid for the car, you were made whole. You aren't entitled to get more than that.
