Need info on New Zealand - Canada deportation policies
Here is the issue:
My best friend was arrested and convicted for smuggling drugs into Auckland from Canada. He was sentanced to 10 years with the option to apply for deportation after he has served 1/2 his time. But the only reason he pleaded guilty was because his lawyer told him that he could apply for deportation right away and only end up serving a maximum of 1-2 years (he has already been in there for 1) and that if they were to fight the charges it would probably take longer just for the trial to be over.
