I took my vechile to a car repair shop for a cooling problem. When I picked up the vechile I now had a transmission problem. I never had transmission troubles prior and I know the repair shop caused the transmission problem. It costed me $3000 to have the transmission repaired at another shop. I am sueing the first shop for the repair costs. I have documentation showing the transmission was recently checked prior to going to the first shop. What is the legal basis for my claim? Can I include court costs and travel to court (I live in another state)?

You will argue they damaged your car while repairing it. If that is true they are liable. They have a duty of care not to do so.
