Confused Realestate issues

The thing is when my father died my i was not old enough to take over his property so my half sister who was not my fathers daughter told me and my twin sister to sign the property over to her until we were old enough to take responsibility as long as we would come up with the property tax in which we have done, now that we are old enough and ready to take over she is not willing to sign it back over and the lawyer who drew up the documents passed away a year and a half ago and we never received copies of those documents all I really want to know is how do i go about getting a copy to see exactly what those documents that i signed stated to see if we can legally take it back. If you need more information im sure that i could provide it. Thank you

Default Re: Realestate issues

I'm sorry, but without her cooperation, you are out of luck. You cannot force her to sign the property back over to you. I assume the deed is solely in her name?

She is responsible for the real estate taxes, maintenance, mortgage payments (if applicable) insurance, etc.. on the property.

To obtain a copy of the document you signed, go to your county's Registry of Deeds. The deed is public record and they will provide you a copy for a small fee.
