I am caught in the middle of a feud between friends. my friend, lets call him A has a rented house and lives in it. he offered to take in my friend B to live with him. Nothing about rent was signed or talked about. friend B moved out and now friend A was holding some of his items to sell for "the money he owes him". I went to friend A's house and took friend B's items out of the house for him. (friend B could not retrieve the items himself as he was threatened by friend A that he would be beaten up if he ever came back.) i now have friend B's items (Friend B asked me to aqquire his items from friend A's house for him) so i have permisson to take the items for him. Now friend A is demanding friend B's items back from me otherwise he will go to the police and say i stole the items from the house.
my question is am i stealing the items if i have had permisson from the rightful owner (who can prove with receipts that they are his items). Do i have to give the Possesions from friend B's back to Friend A? And does friend A have a case against me for stealing becuase i took the items from his house FOR friend B. |

Actually, it's friend A who's breaking the law, so let him call the police. He'll find out soon enough that he's the party guilty of stealing.
He cannot hold your friend B's possessions nor can he threaten to beat him up if he comes to retrieve his possessions. In fact, if he beats friend B up, friend B has a very good lawsuit going for him. No, you do not have to give the possessions back to friend A. And don't! He had no right to hold them in the first place. If friend B owes him money, friend A should take him to small claims court. He cannot, repeat, CANNOT hold friend B's possessions. That is, quite simply, stealing. That he threatened to beat friend B up if he entered the home to retrieve his possessions is against the law. No, friend A does not have a case against you. Friend B, on the other hand, may have a case against friend A for stealing his possessions. Clearly, the person in the wrong in this matter is, unequivocally, friend A. |

Thankyou ever so much for the information. I will give the possesions back to Friend B. When Friend A calls / texts me i will put that i no longer have the items in question. if/when he threatens me, would i have a threat of assult case against Friend A ?
