Default Need Advice!

My ex husband and I have been divorced since 1999. We bought a car together. He sold it to my brother in law, who sold it to someone else, then a family friend bought it back so that I would have it. My ex found out on Mother's day, this year, that I still have the car. He tried to buy it, when I wouldn't sell, he took it to court saying that I stole his car. The judge ruled that the car was owned by both of us because it was never put in the divorce papers. Neither of us want to sell to the other. The car is in my possession, can I sell it and give him 1/2 the money? He is saying that I can't without him agreeing to a price. If that's the case, we will never reach an agreement. Any advice on what I can do so I can get him out of my life!

Thanks!

Since he sold the car and it got sold again and again, tough cookies for him now. He can't make the rules up to suit his interest as he goes along.

The car is yours and that is that. If he wants to get a real lesson in reality, tell him to take you to court, preferably Judge Judy. I'd pay to watch THAT episode. LOL

Just to add, since the car was in BOTH your names when HE sold it, isn't what he's complaining about now a moot point and a double standard? How was he able to sell the car in the first place without your signature and consent? Looks like he's trying to have it both ways.

1999? Does your ex-husband have trouble living in the present? After all the time that's gone by, and considering how little the car would be worth now, and especially considering that HE sold it (dubiously) YEARS ago, he'd be hard pressed to get anywhere with any judge who has a brain at this late stage of the game. It sounds like this guy has some serious mental issues and is trying to keep you in his life by any means possible.

Don't even bother negotiating anything with him. If he harasses you about it, get a protection from harassment order against him. This man has a serious screw loose and it's better to ignore and avoid him as best as possible. Let him try to take you to court over this. He'll be laughed out of the courtroom.
