Question Can a county jail be sued for releasing false info. about me to a local newspaper?

A local jail recently released a photo of me to a newspaper company for a case where someone with my same name was arrested for making meth-anphetamine. The paper published my photo with this info and discrased me and my family. The newspaper done a retraction but it does not change the damage that this has done to my name. Can the jail be sued for neglecting to verify that they was giving out the correct persons info?
