Won't give back personal items.

When my boyfriend and I were having relationship problems, a "friend" who I attend college with offered for me to stay with her. I had let her stay with me last year when she was between apartments for about a month and her mother sent me $100 as a thank you. After staying with this girl for a month, I came back to live with my boyfriend. Now the girl refuses to give me back personal belongings that are still at her apartment. She sent me a text saying that I can get my things back when I give her $200 for rent.

There was no agreement, written or verbal, saying that I would pay her anything. In fact, she knew I had no job when I moved in there (I am a full time student) and she quit her job a week into me staying with her. I also provided food for the apartment and other small necessities with the help of my mom. I have all receipts for the items at her house along with the items bought for her house.

Do I have a case?

dont laugh, but it sounds like a good "judge judy" case to me. i would file in small claims for the cost of you belongings and the $$ spent. tell the "friend" first, maybe she'll cave...
