hello,
i missed my court date yesterday so a default judgment will be issed.........my question is how will i be notified of this judgment? will i be served again by the sheriffs department to let me know that the judgment was issued or will i be notified by mail? I'm asking because I am going out of town and my nosey mother in law will be staying at my house for 2 weeks and I really hope I will not be personally served again at my home when she is there. |

I suppose it depends on what state you live in - i was served in February and did not go (pennsylvania) - was never notified of the default judgement neither by mail or sherriff, though i was pretty sure it was there. I did see it on a courthouse record today. I would just call the sherriff and ask them. If they do need to serve proof of the default judgement to you, tell them you will be out of town and ask if they will allow you to contact them on a certain date when you return to town. They are used to it, they do it all the time.

You can also call the clerk of the court and they will tell you what the judge did and where any papers may or may not be sent.
