bad check

I sold clothing to a woman for $80.00. On the check she wrote $80 in the box, but wrote in the amount eight dollars. I took the check to the bank - and they said they couldn't cash it - because of the two different amounts. I've contacted the woman - she gives me stories all the time - forgot to write a new check, no money, etc. Small claims is out - it would cost me $65 to file and even though I will win - I know she doesn't have to pay. Can I just fill in the "y" (without getting into trouble with the law, or should I keep hounding her for the money. BTW - the check is also written on her husband's bank account - which she is not authorized to do so - and I have a letter from the bank stating this information.

Sue her in small claims--you get the court fee if you win.

...or file check fraud charges if you think she did it purposely.
