Default Small Claims and SSI in Massachusetts

I received a statement of small claims and notice of trial. I do not own any property such as home, land or car. The only source of income I have is SSI. I do want to get this paid, but my current situation is not affording me to do so. I have no other source of income. I do not know the laws surrounding income of SSI and the amount they can legally garnish from that money. It is extremely hard to make it with the amount I get each month. The only bank account I have has 7.43 in it currently and that is from SSI money that my repayee did not take out. I do have a repayee on my SSI and have direct deposit to my only bank account. I did want to contact the lawyers to let them know it is SSI that I receive and ask them how much would satisfy them a month, so I would not have to go to court as I have doctor appointments that day that took 9 months to get in. The amount owed is on a credit card debt and is just under 1500.00

Thanks for any help.
