Confused HELP Court Date vs. United States Navy

I have a Civil Case for Personal Property that was stolen scheduled for August 25. I was just called to the United States Navy and I am leaving on August 19. I cannot use a power of attorney for General District Court or can I issue a continuance until I return in 4 months. The clerk stated that my options are to 1) issue a non-suit or 2) dismiss w/o prejudice.....Please help, I need to issue one of the two by Monday, Aug 18th...

Try writing the judge and asking for some solution or date change--or ask if he will let you appear by phone.

If all else fails a lawyer could be asked to take over for you. Seek costs from the other side.
