I have a 19 yr/old Florida civil judgment against 2 defendants. Out of the blue I get a letter from one of them who has been living in another state. He offers me 1/3 of the initial judgment to let him off and says he might have info on the other fellow. The initial judgment plus 19 years of interest is ~ $5500. The judgment is certified and recorded. There is a 20 yr SOL on this.
I am really puzzled why he contacted me after 19 years but since he did I thought I would kick it around. Anyway, I have a few legal Q's..... Q 1. If I begin action at this late date (like garnishment of wages), can i still collect until the judgment is paid in full or is it over/stops at the 20 year mark. Q 2. Since the one fellow has been out of state for 10 years, does the judgment "go on hold" while he was out of state? |

You can collect past the date yes, but try to resolve asap, the guy probably needs this off his record.
