Suing defendant out of state
Hi. I live/lived in NYC and in Oct. 2001 lent $7,520 to my brother and sister-in-law while they lived in Connecticut. They both signed an explicit repayment agreement. They have sinced divorced; he lives in KC, MO; she lives in Nebraska. They still have approximately 5,500 in debt outstanding on this loan (there are other smaller ones!) with no payments made since 2002. Can I, and if so, how would I sue for the unpaid balance? Thank you.

You can sue them in small claims court--either where they live for easiest collection, or where you signed the agreement.
