I've been working for a compnay for over 10 years and recently applied for a significant promotion. I've been working well above my job description for years and felt that I would easily get the promotion as I met all the criteria, even my employer implied that would be the outcome. I was not given the promotion, they brought someone in; however when I was informed of the decision not to promote me, they ask me to continue doing the responsabilities of that promoted position, (which I had been doing, in addition to my regular work since the departure of a previous collegue). I feel like I have been wronged and feel justified in some form of legal recourse.

That seems like bad management but it is not illegal.
You could consider finding a better employer, if they will not discuss this further. |
