I'm in Florida and I have not found any information in State Laws about an my old employer retroactively lowering my last paycheck to federal minimum wages. I was getting paid more than min. wage prior to me quitting the job. I quit and put in my notice on a Friday and that was my last day. The boss didn't want me back he was upset that I was leaving. I already worked the two weeks he holds back for my pay. Now a month later I finally get my paycheck and it's reduced to federal min. wage instead of my regular wage. Now, I already found out I can get him for not paying me the Florida State Min. Wage which is higher than the Federal, but I want to know if there is any law that states I have a right to the full amount. I've only found federal laws saying an employer can reduce your amount of pay as long as it is Min. Wage, but leaves it to each state as to if there is any notification required. Does anyone have any information for the State of Florida? Maine, NC, NY and Maryland I've found state laws about notification prior to you working the hours, but nothing for florida. Please, Help I don't want this jerk to get away with this. Thank you.

He cannot lower a wage for time already worked.
You may sue in small claims and file a complaint with the Dept of Labor office nearest you |

It is finally resolved after I had an attorney get involved. The lawyer sent out a demand letter for what he owed me in back pay stating what cases have been fought about this issue. He was 4 days late on the demand date, but at least it's over and he had to pay the attorney fee's.

Re: Reduction in hourly pay last paycheck
my boss is trying to do the same thing. I talked to him about it and he said that it was legal. Is there anything I can show him to prove otherwise. I really would rather not have to take it to court.
