Default Help Needed unfair pay

Ok, I resigned from my former job and when I recieved my last two paychecks, I was not payed what I should have been payed, yet it says on my paystubs the gross amount I earned from the beginning of the year to the time I resigned, but what I was acutally payed did not add up (was not payed about 13-1400 dollars) my question, could I fight this?

and what would my options be? also how will this affect when I file my taxes this coming year, will I have to pay? because it shows I grossed X amount of dollars, but was really only payed x amount and not sure how this will affect my taxes! Please help!

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office.

Thank you for your advice, I'm not familiar with law issues and would most likely feel better having an attorney help, but I'm on limited income and being that this is a big business I"d be fighting, approx. how much might it cost to fight this and approx how long could it take? Also what information/documents would I need to fight this?

You might click the highlighted term small claims in the post above. You can see related info there as well.

Thank you for the information. I have a question, the companies headquarters are in another state than the one I was based in (worked in) would I file in the state I was based in or in the companies headquarters? and if also someone could let me know if by them not paying me yet showing on my paystubs that I grossed X amount (although I did not make that) how would this affect my taxes? will I have to pay those taxes that should have been taken out? Thank you again!
