Confused oregon laws

my husband is forced to work from 9am to 8pm and not go over 40 hours.
is there any laws that can protect him? is this even legal?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Oregon requires overtime to be calculated on a daily basis.I will double check this later. However any time over 40 hours always has to be paid at one and one-half (1.5) times the employees regular rate of pay.

Hopefully this answers your questions, if not reply with some more information and I will try to help. I am curious what you mean by you husband cannot go over 40 hours. Does he only work a few days a week? Does he work less hours some days?

To follow up on what I stated earlier...this is taken from the US DOL website regarding daily overtime requirements
