2 years ago I was demoted in position at my work. The written memo stated I was demoted but did not mention anything about reduction in pay. Nothing was ever said about my pay either. In fact, my pay has remained the same and I've even received merit raises.
My question is this: Should I have to be worried that someday the employer could suddenly say they were overpaying me? Or can I assume that they decided to leave my pay the same and not worry about it? |

If they did not specifically notify you that pay decreased, they cannot come back to you later and say that the pay was supposed to be lower--after you kept working there.
Many demotions do not result in pay decreases. |
