2 Years with no Pay Increase
I'm currently working in Premium Audit Department, located in San Francisco California. My job is reviewing audits. We get monthly performance review based on three categories and this is where they base our yearly salary increase. According to management, I'm not meeting our goal and my inconsistency is an acceptable. However, I work 5 days a week and 35 hrs per week and sometimes skips lunch just to keep up with work. Our job is very stressful and being reminded by management that I'm not meeting the goal and bringing the department down doesn't help at all. I was told that we have to be perfect. I'm not the only one though. Some of my co-workers quit and some are on disability due to stress. The ones on disability have been with the company 15 years or more and did not get an increase as well. We're all afraid to speak out and scared of being fired. Is it legal not to give us yearly salary increase? Do we have a case? Any input will help a great deal. Thanks.

It is legal to not give the raise unless you have a contract saying otherwise, but frankly you may want to quit. It sounds as if the job is not worth your health etc. at any wage!

Companies are not mandated to provide wage increases as the other person said. I would tend to agree with the other person in that if the job is that stressful, it may be wise to search for another job. A job is not worth your health and mental well being.
