Default reduction in salary

I have been employed for 3 years as a co director and have an original contract that states my annual salary plus quarterly bonus. This has been fine until Dec 2007 when I asked to be changed to a different position. They gave me a new contract which reduced my annual salary by half. I did not sign, and asked for my old job back which I was given but the salary has never been made back up to its old rate and I have not had any quarterly bonuses since. I have asked repeatedly and the CEO has said that they would reinstate it. They have now had a company shake up and the man who i now report to has emailed another contract with again the same reduction in salary. When I have challenged him he states that they have no record of my salary pre 2008!!! No contract, nothing. I am due to go in and see the CEO next week and have copies of all my wage slips, emails and contracts.
Can they get away with me working the same job as last year for half the return??? How do I stand if they refuse to reinstate it, other than to leave?

Default Re: reduction in salary

They really can't take away wages without reducing your responsiblity. If they say they do not have record of your wages pre 2008, tell them they are required by law to maintain payroll records (depending on the State) for a minimum of 7 years. Relay to them that you are requesting the Department of Labor - Wage & Hour Divison come in to perform a full wage audit.

If they are found to have unlawfully decreased your wages, they will be FORCED to pay you for all of your backed wages.
