Default If I break or damage company property or lose company money while performing my job,

My employer deducts money from the sales reps paychecks for units that are shipped to clinics and not scanned once in a six month period of time. The rep really has no control over the inventory once it is shipped inot the iindividual clinic. The clinic is acting as a consignor of the inventory and has no financial responsibilty to speak of.

I know this is illegal according to California law as the reps there have referenced the state labor law (http://www.dir.state.ca.us/dlse/FAQ_Deductions.htm) and received any and all deductions made from thier pay during their tenure.

Does this law apply to other states? Specifically Tenn, NC, SC, Ga?

I called my state labot board said if they had a written policy it would supercede. Does this sound correct?

Secondly, would it be legal for the company to continue to charge reps outside of California and not charge the Cali reps?

Thanks again.
