Confused partition

I am involved with a house partition with my brother. It came to this because he avoided paying his share of the mortage for a yr and half while he was collecting rent on his side of the property. A commissioner was appointed and he has obstructed this sale from day one. Now that the division is near he has produced several false documents attributing to his percentage. Some of these are proven to be false. he is also in contempt 12 times for his disobidence of the court.
My lawyer now wants me to sign a document that I will pay him $50,000.00
upon the closing. The judge has said that my brother wil pay a lot of the fees but he wants me to sign anyway. When I offered half for now (until the court judgement) he refuses, asking me to take out a loan and even suggested I get a court appointed attorney. I feel abandoned after all this time. Now we are at the end. Is this Legal? what should I do?
