Neighbor chains truck to condo
I live in a Condo Complex. I am buying mine and I am on the third floor. The first floor is the Carport where I park my truck. One of My neighbors parks his truck right next to mine. He feels the need to Chain his Truck to the Support structer of the carport beside my truck and directly underneath my condo. It worries me to no end as it's directly under the babys room. I have asked him to not chain his truck, he told me that it is NOT unsafe and to call the HOA if I have a problem with it. I did call them and they told me that the chain wasn't tight and was not pulling on the support beam, to drop the matter that everything is fine. I don't feel fine. I then asked them if it would be ok if I CUT the chain that was on MY side of the carport? I didn't really get an answer.
I can't figure out what the building codes would be for this in the state of California. Can someone tell me if this is illegal or am I just crazy? Thanks. |

Ask the police and the city zoning and code compliance officers to come and look at that situation.
We would agree it is close to the line. He is possibly creating unnecessary danger for you. |

Why don't you go 'halvsies' with him to put a ring into the garage floor and have him chain his truck to that?

I thought I would just update. The city said there is nothing they can do. They told me it was an HOA matter. As I already stated the HOA will do nothing. Oh well, thanks.

You should find out who insures the condo, I'm sure the insurance company would have something to say about it.

You could tell them you will sue in small claims or other court and subpoena the information.
