Angry I want out

Me and my boyfriend bought a home together about 1 1/2 years ago. After about 2 months of being in the house, things got horrible, he is an alcoholic and the nicest guy in the world turned into the meanest. About 5 months ago he crossed the line w/ me and I left the house and have not been back ever since as I do not feel safe much less comfortable there anymore. The house has been on the market for about 3 months now. I am still paying my half of the mortage so that it does not foreclose but I am NOT living there. He doesn't make enough money to put the house in his name alone. What can I do to get out of this mess??

Default Re: I want out

If two or more owners cannot agree on what to do with a piece of property they may petition the court and the court will order a sale or refinancing etc. so that the one or more may get out of the property obligation and/or the other(s) may keep it etc.--it is often done-- (This is true in some cases even for equitable owners that have paid various amounts etc., but for various reasons, may not be on title.)
