Getting out of Homeowner's Association

Can a homeowner "get out" of a homeowners association? If so, what would be the course of action?

That depends when you joined and what your deed says etc.
Some are voluntary and some are not. Have you reviewed your by-laws or rules as of yet? That should answer it.
