Confused Timeshare. Am I being scammed, what can I do?

I own a timeshare at the Santa Barbara Resort and Yacht Club in Fla. Two years ago there was a hurricane that damaged the property severly enough that it had to close. The property is still in disrepair and I received a special assessment from the "owners association" for 2 payments that would equal two years of regular maintenance fees. The reason stated was the insurance did not fully cover the damage. I am starting to find out that the "owners association" was not registered in the state of FLA for the last two years but has now has filed for registration. I visited the property in Dec, 06 and there was virtually no repairs taking place only a "crew" of "workers" walking around trying to look busy. This resort is managed by Wyndham Resorts (FairField) and I believe they have an interest in many of the condos there. There are many private owners that are very upset and believe that fraud is being committed against us. Is there a case for negligence here? Sorry it would take pages to add more details to this story.

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to the state attorney general's office.
