We had our home inspected by someone recommended to us by our realtor. Shortly after moving in our fully finished walk-out basement leaked with all rainstorms. we had contractors out to give estimates on repair. they all seemed shocked that we had, in fact, had our home inspected because the signs were obvious. We opted to have the home completely reinspected and as suspected the inspection report was much more detailed showing all the signs that the first inspector missed. We had our home repaired at over $30,000 and feel the initial inspector holds some liability for failing to alert us to obvious signs of this problem. We would never have bought the home knowing it had problems to this extent. We submitted a claim to his omissions and errors liability insurance company and were denied. I have kept very detailed records and photographs. Should we let this go or take him to court? I have had to return to work and put my toddlers in daycare in order to start paying off this $30k debt. All we want is some help with the $30k.

You would have a very good suit. The inspector seemed to have failed in his duties.l
