i have a primary residence but im living and working 200 plus miles away from it i was told to go have my house homestead said it would help on my property taxes plus ill be able to claim my rent that im paying for where im at on my taxes at theend of the year is this true by the way i liv in ok and my primary residence is in oklaoma also

You normally do need to be living in the home you claim as a homestead--at least in my state.

You may want to check that advice you rec'd again.
