Life Use

I am 18 years old and both of my parents are deceased. I am in college and reside with my legal guardians when not at college. Before my mother died she left her husband (my step-dad) life use of my house and 10 acres that the house sits on. I also have an adjoining 119 acres. Both properties are left to me however, he is granted the life-use to the house and 10 acres. He is never there, the house should be condemned and he has not paid the property taxes for the past 3 years. Isn't it his responsibility, having life use, to pay these taxes? I would love to have him gone...... but can"t afford the costly legal battle, not to mention all the back taxes I am trying to pay so I don't lose MY property. What should I do?

he should pay yes...you can go to court and have the life use ended...you can do it yourself if need be. Perhaps world law could also help you prepare the papers if needed,

I am worried that if I anger him he will try to sue me. He stated before when I confronted him on another issue that when my mom died he paid off the house and that I owe him $29,000. He is a convicted crminal and I would not put it past him to try to sue me. I just want him gone from my property and out of my life.

Have a local lawyer review your legal position and if it is strong don't worry about any such suit.
