Am I Liable?
I sold my fathers house in November of 2005. I went through a real estate company so the home was inspected and all the improvements we made that the inspector instructed. I got a call on December the 12th from the real estate company I used. She informed me that the person who bought the house apparently had someone doing some work at the house who told her that there was a leak under the house. She called the home warrenty company and they told her to get an estimate and they would pay to have it fixed. She called a local company and they told her that they had been to that house before and told the owner that the plumbing needed to be replaced. She then told this to the home warrenty company and they refused to pay for it because it is a pre-existing condition. The new owner wants to go to a mediator to get this matter resolved and also says the heat and air unit needs to be replaced. I would like to know how or why I would be liable for these repairs after a year. Help would be most appreciated.
