Khata or Patta (as it is referred to some parts of India) is one of the most important documents for property tax assessment and for establishing one's ownership over the property. It is known by different names in different states and is issued to the legal owner of the property. It is needed in case one requires a building license, trade license or a loan from bank. A Khata certificate will contain the details about the property such as its size, location, built up area etc.
33 years may give you rights yes. You really should get a title firm or lawyer involved now to ensure you maximize your claim, but it indeed is possible. World Law member lawyers locally can help if need be. |
