I had to take my tenants to civil court for rent and damages to property. they counter sued me for damages to their property and return of their security deposit. Judgment was ordered on my behalf on both suits. Doesn't that mean they do not get their security deposit back?

You get to take up to the amount of the judgment normally yes.
