The Beatles come to the Internet... on some site you've never heard of. But BlueBeat.com insists that its unlimited streaming and cheap downloads are legal. And the company behind it has sent cease-and-desist letters to the likes of Apple over alleged DMCA violations.

EMI has already told a UK newspaper that Bluebeat appears to be selling the tracks without permission, but BlueBeat insists that everything on its site is legitimate. "Our MP3s are fully-licensed audio-visual works and BlueBeat.com pays all applicable royalties," the site says.

Default Beatles catalog is temporarily banned from music website BlueBeat

Capitol Records this week filed a suit against BlueBeat, which says that songs produced by digital regeneration are akin to songs performed by cover bands and do not run afoul of copyright law.
