cigarette purchases online
I just received a "failure to file" notice from the state of MA for $505.62 in unfiled excise tax on cigarettes purchased online in 2008 from an Indian reservation. This is the first notice I have ever received but they have included interest and penalties they say I owe. It was my understanding that anything purchased from a reservation was not taxable. Any help or info would be appreciated.
