I think the best thing is to post as many posts in forums (like this one) with all the details (specially their bank details) so we all make it easier to detect before payment.

All of us should help to create an easy Background check and verification of suppliers, so the more data in the web, the easier to help someone else.

We guess some Indonesian police is involved in this kind of activity, so even if you have the right to call them, your request will by buried in a pile of documents to be forgotten.

Documents needed to open a bank account in Indonesia should be validated by the bank, but sometimes a good photocopy is enough. So, it is really helpful to google the bank account or name in the internet and study the results...

SO, from our experience: post, post, post theri details and check BEFORE payments!!!

Ask for references, other peoples contact details who they have sold to previously.
Can you pay via Paypal? (not fool proof but my scammer wouldn't allow me that option).

my advice would be to buy nothing unless you can pay with Paypal,
this way if the items do not arrive you can cancell the payment.

I have found that as soon as you want to pay with paypal they find many excuses why they cannot accept it

dont be fooled by their words or letters that you can trust them

pay nothing unless by paypal

also check them out
ask for web address
ask for phone numbers
do web searches

but i honestly think i would not buy anything from Indonesia

I wanted to import Baja 5bSS radio control cars to Australia.
I received a Trade alert to a company in Indonesia. I contacted the company and negotiated a deal. I received a receipt of the banking details and all of the companies contact details. I rang the company and was able to talk to a man who stated they had my order and that when they received my money by telegraphic transfer they would send my items with Fedex.

I sent the money and then the emails stopped.
I tried to ring and the phone was disconnected
I contacted the bank who verified that my money was received and the owner removed the money from the account.
They will not release any names or refund the money

I rang the police in Jakarta and explained to them what happened. They laughed and said that it happens all the time and to forget about it

I sent an email to alibaba.com
They said that they have no responsibility to verify if a seller is legitimate or not and that they are just a means for two people to get connected like a trade show.

I feel that a web company that receives money from a seller to advertise on their web page has an obligation to ensure that the seller is a legal business and that I can purchase or complete a business dealing without concern of this type of fraud

Also they contacted me using their trade alert to connect me with the seller.
Does a web company have any legal obligations to ensure that at least the companies that are advertised are genuine?

The money lost is really a small amount just $650 US but I want to know what I can do?
Should I chase the fraudster?
Should I sue the web company?
Should I forget about it?

It’s just that I feel if we don’t try and stop this kind of fraud related dealings on the internet they will continue and people will continue loosing money
I look forward to hearing from you

I scammed the indonesian scammer.
I forward packages and this was an indonesian client.
I found out that he was buying with stolen credit cards.
By the time it was time to ship he send the money western union.
I collected and then told him he was a thief and that I was sending the goods back to their rightful owners
He wanted his shipping money back but I gues he is out of luck haha
