Age, general health, lifestyle, and the severity and location of symptoms influence the type of treatment used to reduce inflammation and decrease the rate at which new skin cells are produced. Because the course of this disease varies with each individual, doctors must experiment with or combine different treatments to find the most effective therapy for a particular patient.

I have been suffering from Psoriasis for about 15 years.
It started on my scalp and spread throughout my body over the years. My regret was i didn't treat it before is spread all over my body. I had tried everything from tropical ointments, herbs, UV therapy, etc. Sometimes they work but they seem to come back after a few months. 3 years ago I discovered Prednisone. I knew Prednisone were steroids. So far this is the only drug that has been working for me, but this past year I'm starting to feel the side effects of the drug -- weight gain, muscle and bone weakness, blurred vision, headaches... I really want to stop the drug, but this is the only thing that keeps me sane... |

Individuals with psoriasis may experience significant physical discomfort and some disability. Itching and pain can interfere with basic functions, such as self-care, walking, and sleep. Plaques on hands and feet can prevent individuals from working at certain occupations, playing some sports, and caring for family members or a home. The frequency of medical care is costly and can interfere with an employment or school schedule. People with moderate to severe psoriasis may feel self-conscious about their appearance and have a poor self-image that stems from fear of public rejection and psychosexual concerns. Psychological distress can lead to significant depression and social isolation.

I use the Swanson brand nopal capsules at swansonvitamins.com.
My Dad had psoriasis really bad and i wish we had known about the nopal then. There is also a liquid drink product by TriVita called Nopalea which apparently can do great for psoriasis, eczema, arthritis or other skin problems. In the December 2010 issue of TriVita.com's VitaJournal, there are amazing photos of a woman who had really bad psoriasis on her face and neck, but it cleared almost completely with internal use of the Nopalea drink. However, i would just take the nopal capsules. I take 2 capsules before each meal and the itching i had around my ankles after eating was gone in probably 3 days, and has stayed gome for over a year now. Nopal is great for skin issues and i would at least try it. Nopal has betalains which put out inflamation of certain types which is why nopal can be good for arthritis as well. Good luck everyone with your skin or arthritis problems. |

I think natural healing is fantastic, especially for mild to moderate skin conditions. But for life-threatening diseases that respond best to advanced medical technology, I would never advise anyone to reject that technology in favor of natural remedies. Each approach can be used to compliment the other.

Psoriasis is a common skin condition that causes skin redness and irritation, which millions of persons suffer from every year. Bitter melon can be considered an effective remedy for psoriasis. Take a cup of fresh bitter gourd juice and add a tablespoon of lemon juice and drink on an empty stomach every day for 4 to 6 months.

I'm impressed. You're truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. I'm saving this for future use.
