School Transportation Issue. Being treated unfairly!
I was referred to this website by a friend in hope to gain advice on a problem I am currently having. The following situation is located in Belfast, United Kingdom. Any advice you could give would be grately appreciated.
For the last two years I have purchased a bus pass that enables my son to travel directly too and from school everyday. So he is only allowed two journeys a day, five days a week, 190 days a year. It is fine to use. A few months back we got a letter in from the company that supplies the pass. (The transport provider for Northern Ireland) stating: "We have recently carried out a review concerning how prices are calculated for pupil passes. The purpose of this review was to insure that passes are priced in a consistent and fair manner." In the past years we have paid £144 = $232 per annum for the pass. We thought that was a "fair price!" In our new quote, the price amounted turned out to be £396 = $652. Now we do not believe that this is a fair price!! The price of the pass has nearly trebled and they state that "We discovered a few anomalies that we wish to rectify." They admit that it was a fault in there system. Not a fault of ourselves. I and my son have been on the phone with them numerous number of times and have failed to get anywhere. The person that we have to deal with has been quite unprofessional and has refused to name her manager. Due to our constant calls they sent out a letter with the breakdown of the price. The worst thing is, two neighbours who live directly across the road, who get the same bus, every day. Were only charged £150 each. Roughly the same quote price I paid last year. The last contact we had, was by my son who is 14 years old. He spoke to the manager further up. They said to him that: They considered the case closed and there is nothing else the company could do. He said that my complaint has been dealt with and he could not comment on anyones elses situation. He picked up on a few other things, They said "We discovered a few anomalies recently and we will be acting on them." (meaning my neighbours) He said to them " It wouldn't be good for your reputation, to originally send out a quote of £150 then bring it up to £400." He replied "Who are you to tell us what we can and can't do?" They also said "We have got an organisation to run, I understand, you and others have spoken to us on numerous occasions. We can not keep dealing with the same complaint over and over again." They also said "Nothing has changed on our side, and the price can not be changed. I do not know how I can help you any longer, "So if you do decide to contact this office again, It will be made short and sweet!" I couldn't go on with everything we have done about this, but it is possible that we will lose hundreds of pounds due to this. What am I looking to be achieved? For the price to match my neighbours and save 273%. Any organisations to contact or really advice you could give me would be grately appreciated!! Thank You |
